‘The Lost Statue of Babylon’ Bronze

The Lost Statue of Babylon is a key work of 'The Night Star' exhibition. The 45cm tall bronze statue of the Whore of Babylon, a wholly overlooked icon of female empowerment who embodies the wild feminine, the uncontrollable, unpredictable force that resides in all of us. Comparatively recent notions of guilt and shame, particularly in relation to female sexuality, have wounded women but my Babylon is here to help us heal. She is a pagan siren, an apocalyptic force able to cut through distortion with her sword and provide a site in which to reflect on the power of femininity. The Lost Statue of Babylon, bronze, 450 x 185 x 70 mm, 2021, 1 + 1 AP, £7,000.
